Regina Höfer, M.A., is an Art Historian specialized in Indian and Tibetan art and a curator. She studied at the University of Bonn, Germany and the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. She is an Associated Academic at the Department of Asian and Islamic Art History, Institute of Oriental and Asian Studies, University of Bonn. Before she has been working there and at the Institute of the History of Art, University of Vienna and the Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Documentation of Inner and South Asian Cultural History, Vienna, as a Research Associate and Lecturer (Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin). Moreover she has been former Assistant Curator at the Asian Art Museum, National Museums in Berlin and at the MONREPOS Archaeological Research Centre and Museum for Human Behavioural Evolution, Roman-Germanic Museum, Mainz and curated numerous exhibitions. Currently she researches the history of collecting South Asian art in the 19th century. Her research interests are Indian and Tibetan Buddhist art, historical Indian photography, Global Art, modern and contemporary Tibetan art, museum theory, traditions of collecting Asian art, museums in Asia and visual ethnology.
